The Sarnia Sting were the only club to go south of the border in the first round of the 2018 OHL Priority Selection with a pick that is poised to be a big part of their future.
Jacob Perreault, chosen 19th overall, represents the Sting’s only pick in the first three rounds of this year’s draft following a record season for points and wins in Sarnia. The dual citizen is the son of former NHL forward Yanic Perreault and led Chicago Mission U16 to a USA Hockey National Championship in April. The centreman topped the HPHL circuit with 25 points in 20 games and accumulated a total of 50 points in 47 games across the entire season. He also competed with Team HNO at the 2018 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener.
Perreault made things official in May committing to the club for the 2018-19 season.
Next up for Perreault is Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Development Camp from July 21-27 in Calgary where he’ll compete along with the club’s fourth round pick Nolan Dillingham-Morelli.
