Deni Goure had two goals and two assists to lead the Owen Sound Attack, as they beat the Sarnia Sting 6-2 Wednesday night in OHL action at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

Rookie goaltender Carter George picked up his third career OHL win in just his third game this season, stopping 29 of 31 shots.

Cedrick Guindon (Montreal Canadiens) had a goal and an assist and Thomas Chafe had a pair of assists for Owen Sound (10-6-0-0) as they evened the season series between the two teams at one win apiece after Sarnia (8-6-1-1) won the initial game 3-2 on home ice earlier this season.

Matthew Papais, Ethan Burroughs and Tomislav Brennan scored single markers for Owen Sound.

Sarnia was once again short-handed tonight, dressing only five defensemen because of injuries and they were also minus OHL leading goal scorer Nolan Burke, who was serving the first game of a two-game suspension handed down from the Ontario Hockey League, for his hit to the head game misconduct in Sunday’s game against Flint.

Sandis Vilmanis (Florida Panthers) scored his sixth goal of the season in the second period from Ethan Ritchie and Easton Wainwright potted his second goal this year in the third period, from Austin Harper and Cooper Way.

Ben Gaudreau (San Jose Sharks) started in net for the Sting and played the first two periods (17 saves on 22 shots) before giving way at the start of the third period to Nicholas Surzycia (5 saves on 6 shots).

Sarnia out-shot Owen Sound 31-28, but went 0/8 on the power-play, which included two four minute double minors, one in the first minute of the opening period and one in the third period.

Goure actually scored what seemed to be a hat-trick goal in the final stanza, but the goal was waved off after it was decided that he hit one of the Sting players with a high stick and assessed a double minor penalty. Goure was the first star followed by George as the second star and Chafe was named the third star.
