Sting Launch Hockey Academy Beginning with Coaching Webinar

Sarnia, Ontario:  The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club is proud to announce the launch of the Sarnia Sting Hockey Academy. A program that focuses on the grass-roots growth of the game in Sarnia-Lambton. The program aims to use the Sting platform to assist in providing everyone in the Sarnia-Lambton community, regardless of age, experience, and skill level an opportunity to play and develop in the game of hockey.

The Academy will involve several annual initiatives, including on and off-ice hockey training, virtual and in person coaching instruction, social media content as well as equipment recycling programs to help provide more kids opportunity to play locally.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca sees it as the duty of the organization to take the lead on projects like this.

“As leaders in our hockey community it is our responsibility to use our platform to positively promote hockey opportunity and development in our community. No matter your age, gender, background, financial situation, or skill level we want everyone in Sarnia-Lambton to have an opportunity to share and enjoy this game in some way, shape or form.” Comments the Sarnia Sting General Manager.

“Additionally, we are excited to expand the work with our current local associations to provide additional support to their current programs as well as create new development initiatives, which we hope can help young athletes in our community reach their full potential.” Adds Seca.

Along with last week’s announcement of former Jr. Sting and NCAA National Champion Carolyne Prevost joining the Club as Women’s Hockey Ambassador. The Sting will kick off the Hockey Academy with the first ever Coaching Development Webinar Series.

Open to all players, parents and coaches, the goal of the Coaching Development Webinar Series is to offer a diverse group of speakers who all have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will cover a wide range of topics to help in teaching hockey technique but also in dealing with today’s players.

The four-week program will include a different speaker and area of focus each week.  The series will kick off on Monday, March 29th at 6 PM est. and will feature our recently named Women’s Hockey Ambassador Carolyne Prevost.  With a background in both teaching, fitness and as a Professional Hockey player Caroline will share her unique experiences and offer valuable insight for all who take part.

The event is completely free of charge.  All Coaches, parents and players who wish to take part can pre-register by clicking the link below.
