SARNIA, ON – Sarnia Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair announced today that the team has completed a trade with Mississauga which sees overage forward Calvin Martin join the Steelheads. In return, the Sting will receive a conditional 8th round pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.
The 20-year-old Peterborough native spent parts of two seasons with the Sting compiling 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points in 76 games in Sarnia. Martin is coming off his most productive season in the OHL in 2018-19 where he recorded 14 goals and 23 assists in 68 games played.
Originally a 6th round pick by Sault Ste. Marie in 2015, Martin was signed as a free agent by the Sting in September of 2018. He also spent a portion of the 2017-18 campaign with the QMJHL’s Val d’Or Foreurs. Thus far in his OHL career, Martin has compiled 24 goals and 31 assists for 55 points in 143 games played.
