Sting Acquire Sarnia-Native Josh Hoover from the Sudbury Wolves

Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca announced this morning that the Hockey Club has acquired 18-year-old Sarnia-native Josh Hoover from Sudbury in exchange for a 7th round pick in the 2023 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection and a 5th round pick in the 2024 OHL Draft.
The 5’11 left-shooting defenceman spent last season split between the Wolves and the Greater Sudbury Cubs in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL). Through 11 games played with the Cubs Hoover tallied 6 assists. In his OHL Draft Year, the Lambton Jr. Sting program grad recorded 9 goals and 15 assists through 26 games played.
On the acquisition of Hoover, Seca comments:
“Josh is a player we’ve coveted for the last year. He plays a smart and physical style and will complement our backend very well. He is a competitive player who we know very well. We would like to welcome Josh and the Hoover family to the Sarnia Sting.”
The Sarnia Sting are set to close out the 2022-23 preseason tomorrow night with a matchup against the Windsor Spitfires and look forward to the Hockey Club’s 2022 Home Opener on October 7th when the team will faceoff against the Saginaw Spirit at 7:05pm. Tickets for both games are available for purchase through sarniasting.com and the Box Office.
