GAME REPORT: Sting Win 10 Straight & Defeat Wolves on Night of Milestones

The Sarnia Sting visited the Sudbury Wolves on Friday night. It turned out to be a night of many milestones.

In a quiet opening period, the Wolves scored the lone goal. Owen Gilhula scored for Sudbury, putting one on net just as Sting goaltender Justin Fazio was fighting through traffic in front.

Sudbury scored a quick one to begin the second period, but Sarnia would begin to build momentum just minutes later.

In a very exciting moment, Sting forward Brayden Guy scored his first OHL goal. Defenceman Theo Calvas sent a point shot towards the Sudbury goal, and Guy got a piece of it, deflecting the puck into the cage. And he wasn’t done there.

About five minutes later, Guy scored his second of the night. Guy once again used some quick hands, corralling the puck on the left side of the Wolves’ goal and tucking the puck high into the net. Thanks to Guy, Sarnia tied the game 2-2.

Before the second period was over, Sting captain Jordan Kyrou scored and recorded his 200th career OHL point. Kyrou was set up by Brady Hinz on a pretty give-and-go passing play. The goal was Kyrou’s nineteenth point of the season, good for first place league-wide. Sting forward Adam Ruzicka is second in league points with eighteen.

In the third period, the milestones kept coming.

Jamieson Rees scored his first OHL goal on a slick play that saw him enter the Wolves’ zone with speed and go top shelf on the Sudbury netminder.

Hugo Leufvenius sealed the deal just before time expired, and the Sting prevailed by a final score of 5-2.

Justin Fazio was stellar once again between the pipes, stopping 41 of 43 shots and picking up his eighth win of the season.
