Black & White Game Festivities

The Annual Black & White game in support of the United Way is set for Wednesday, September 2 – 7:05 p.m. at the RBC Centre in Sarnia. As always, the game will feature a number of current Sting players and Sting prospects vying for a roster spot. Additionally, in partnership with the City of Sarnia, Lambton Ford, Blackburn Radio, and Gamble Hub Insurance, the Sarnia Sting will be hosting a pep rally in the parking lot from 5:00 – 7:00 PM prior to the game.

This event will feature live music, interactive games for the kids, and a licensed beer gardens for fans over the age of 19. The pep rally will be highlighted by a formal welcome from Mayor Mike Bradley, and a few words from Sarnia Sting owners, Derian Hatcher & David Legwand.

“We want to turn the United Way, Black & White Game into a kick-off celebration of the new ownership of the Sarnia Sting. We’re really building off the last two games of last season, when the building was just rocking. We’d like to see a really good crowd out there on September 2nd to say ‘Welcome to Sarnia,’” comments Mayor Mike Bradley.

Admission is free of charge for the annual Black and White game with proceeds from the 50/50 draw, Jersey raffle, and lineup sheet sales going back to the United Way.

Executive Director, Dave Brown comments on behalf of the United Way regarding the partnership, “The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has been a long time, valued partner of the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. We are very grateful to the previous ownership group, and look forward to working with new ownership to grow our relationship even more.”

Sarnia Sting co-owner, Derian Hatcher is excited about their [his and David’s] first full season in Sarnia. “I think it’s definitely a great way to kick things off. The Annual Black & White game is one of the most long standing traditions of the Sarnia Sting and both, David and myself are looking forward to continuing that tradition.”

(Itinerary for the Pep Rally will be released at a later date.)
