SARNIA, ON – Bright’s Grove, ON native and 2003 Masters Champion Mike Weir is coming back to Sarnia to help kick off the 2019-20 season in style all in support of mental health through the Mike Weir Foundation.
Mike Weir is set to join the Sarnia Sting at Progressive Auto Sales Arena for the 2019 Coors Light Home Opener, Friday, September 20th when the Sting hit the ice to take on the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs. The local golf legend has launched a campaign to raise money for a youth mental health facility in Sarnia-Lambton.

The Mike Weir Foundation has pledged to match donations up to $200,000 for an Access Open Minds facility for youth aged 11 to 25.
Fans can meet Mike to take pictures and get autographs prior to the season opener at the Coors Light Pre-Game Party. The former Masters Champion will be available from 5:30 – 6:30 PM outside the main gate (Gate 5) of the Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Although not required donations to Mike’s mental health initiative are greatly appreciated. The event will also include music, games as well hamburgers, hot dogs and Molson brand beverage available for purchase.
The Sting will honour Weir with video tribute and ceremonial puck drop prior to the Bulldogs vs Sting slated for 7:05 PM. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online here or by calling the Mainstreet Credit Union Sarnia Sting Box Office at 519 541 1717 Wednesday- Friday. 10 AM – 5PM.
