From the entire Sarnia Sting organization, we sincerely thank you for your tremendous support and the electric atmosphere you brought to the Hive, you are the lifeblood of Sting Hockey!
We are not satisfied with our end-result but there are certainly many positives that we can reflect upon as memorable moments this season. Some special highlights for us included: being ranked the #1 team in the Canadian Hockey League for nearly two months, which involved a 14-game winning streak to kick off the season. We were proud to watch our Captain Jordan Kyrou, help bring Team Canada home the gold at the World Junior Hockey Championship. The installation of our new toy that hangs above centre-ice at the Hive has added a new level to the Sting experience and will only get better. Sting forward Curtis Egert helped us make sure no kid wakes up without a present on Christmas morning, scoring the 20th Annual Teddy Bear Toss goal. Record breaking 50/50 jackpots that will all go to our local minor hockey and sledge programs in the Sarnia-Lambton Community. Of course, we will all remember the special night in January, having the opportunity to bring back Sting-great Steven Stamkos to honour his time here and hang his number 91 from the rafters.
Thank you to our overage players Connor Schlichting, Jordan Ernst and our new franchise record holder in games played and wins in a season Justin Fazio, who all cemented their own Sarnia Sting hockey legacy.
Although we did not reach the Championship success we were searching for, we feel as an organization both on and off the ice we have made some significant steps on the path to whom we wish to become and will continue to grow as an organization and Major Junior Hockey Program.
Although this season has ended, there is still so much more to come.
From the bottom of our hearts thank you for your continuous support.
