Weekend Preview

The Sarnia Sting will wrap up their regular season this week with games against the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday and the Guelph Storm on Friday evening. The Sting went 1-2 last week with a victory over the Spitfires and losses to the Greyhounds and the Attack. The Sting need just one point to clinch a playoff berth, which could come tonight against the visiting Spitfires. Tickets


Jordan Kyrou: The St. Louis Blues prospect has worked his point streak to an even 30 games after putting up 5 points in 3 games last week. He has recorded 52 points during his streak and and is up to 93 points this season, and is 4th in OHL scoring.

Drake Rymsha: Drake Rymsha is riding a point streak of his own, as he has recorded at least one point in each of his past 10 games. He earned POTW honours last week after scoring 5 goals in 3 games. He has now scored in 6 straight games.

Jeff King: Jeff King recorded 3 points in 3 games last week, and has recorded 14 points in his last 9 games. The overage defenceman is 3rd in team scoring with 56 points in 65 games. He is expected to play in his 250th game on Wednesday, which will tie him for 2nd most in a Sting uniform.

Anthony Salinitri: Salinitri recorded 4 points in 3 games last week, and is now up to 55 points in 64 games this season, which is good for 4th in team scoring. He has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last 9 games.

The Sting will play host to the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday evening for Radio night presented by CHOK. This will be the final regular season home game of the season for the Sting as they look to clinch a playoff berth in front of the Sting faithful on Wednesday. The Sting have won the past two contests against the Spitfires, and will look to make it 3 straight to finish off the season series.

CHOK will be in attendance on Wednesday, and will be giving away prizes throughout the evening. Look for their representatives upon entry for details on how to win. The Sting will also be recognizing their land parents prior to puck drop at 7:05 PM.

WSR Players to Watch: 

Christiano DiGiacinto: DiGiacinto was selected in the 6th round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has recorded an impressive 33 points through 45 games this season, and owns a +/- rating of +32.

Gabriel Vilardi: Vilardi is now up to 61 points through 46 games this season in his sophomore season after being selected 2nd overall in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He has recorded 11 points in his last 6 games.

The Sting will close out their regular season on Friday night when they travel to Guelph to take on the Storm. It will be the 4th meeting between the teams this season, with the Sting having won 2 of the first 3 thus far. The Sting won the most recent matchup 6-2 on February 15th. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM.

GUE Players to Watch:

Isaac Ratcliffe: Ratcliffe has enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign, as he is now up to 51 points through 64 games this season, and currently leads the Storm in scoring. The London native was selected 15th overall in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.

Nate Schnarr: Schnarr has produced in his first OHL campaign, as he has recorded 33 points through 51 games played this season, and is tied for 9th in rookie scoring. He has impressed in the faceoff circle, as he has won nearly 50% of his draws this season.
