SARNIA, ON – The Sarnia Sting defeated the Sudbury Wolves by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The win snapped a 6 game losing skid and improves their record to 18-16-5-1 on the season.

Aidan Hughes got the start for the Sting, turning aside 20 of 22 shots he faced in the victory. Jake McGrath stopped 37 of the 42 shots he faced in the contest for the Wolves.

Dmitry Sokolov got the Wolves on the board first, scoring at 3:41 of the first period. The Sting responded at 6:32 when Jordan Ernst managed to find a loose puck and tap it in to even the game at 1 a piece. Kevin Spinozzi and Jordan Kyrou assisted on the goal.

At 10:47 in the first period, Troy Lajeunesse scored his third goal in his last two games played, getting in on a two on one break and firing the puck past McGrath. Kevin Spinozzi had the lone assist on the play. Connor Schlichting would add to the Sting lead at 13:16, scoring his first goal of the season. Jaden Lindo and Nick Grima were credited with the assists.

Anthony Salinitri scored his 17th goal of the season at 5:05 of the second period, extending the lead to 4-1. Adam Ruzicka and Jeff King were credited with the assists on the goal.

Dmitry Sokolov responded for the Wolves at 13:55 of the second, scoring his second goal of the game and 28th of the season to make it a 4-2 game for the Sting.

Jaden Lindo would put the game away at 11:07 in the third period, making it a 5-2 game for the Sting en route to the victory. Franco Sproviero had the lone assist on the goal.

The Sting will look to put together back-to-back wins this coming Wednesday, January 11th as they play host to the Hamilton Bulldogs at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
