GUELPH, ON – The Sarnia Sting closed out the 2016-17 Regular Season with a contest against the Guelph Storm on Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.
After a scoreless first stanza, Anthony Salinitri opened the scoring at 4:14 of the second period with his 27th of the season. Theo Calvas – who is coming off his first multi-point game as a member of the Sting – was credited with the lone assist on the game’s first goal.
Just 1:55 later, top prospect Isaac Ratcliffe responded for the Storm to tie the game 1-1. Ratcliffe’s 27th of the season was assisted by Red Wings’ prospect, Givani Smith.
Albert Michnac’s 14th of the season gave the Storm their first lead of the game three minutes later.
Salinitri’s second of the night and 28th of the season tied the game for the Sting at 11:24 of the middle frame. The powerplay marker was assisted by Jordan Kyrou and Connor Schlichting.
With 12:35 remaining in the third period, McEwan capitalized on a breakaway to give the Storm the lead once again. McFadden added an empty-netter to round out the scoring for the Storm.
The Sting will now await their round one opponents in the 2017 post-season with game remaining on the docket for both the Erie Otters and the Owen Sound Attack. Once an opponent is determined, game dates and times will be announced. Although these dates and times are not yet set, fans can purchase their tickets for Game #3 and Game #4 at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena Box Office (Mon-Fri from 10 AM – 5 PM) or online here.
