GAME REPORT | Sting Unveil Arena Updates, Drop 5-0 Tilt to Spitfires

The Sarnia Sting hosted the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday night.

Tonight marked the official unveiling of a new state-of-the-art score clock and 400-foot LED ribbon at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

All was great above the ice, but on it, the Spitfires came to play. Windsor emerged with a 5-0 shutout victory. Tyler Angle led the way with two goals for the Spitfires.

With captain Jordan Kyrou and Adam Ruzicka away at the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championship, the Sting were missing a few pieces tonight. Windsor jumped at the opportunity.

Angle had two for the Spitfires, and Kirill Kozhevnikov, Connor Corcoran, and Austin McEneny each added single tallies.

Sting goaltender Justin Fazio stopped 34 of 39 shots against in the loss.

Shots were 43 for the Sting and 39 for the Spitfires.

Tonight’s official boxscore can be viewed here.

Next up for the Sting is the annual New Year’s home-and-home with the London Knights! We kick things off right here at Progressive Auto Sales Arena on New Year’s Eve. Puckdrop is 7:05 PM. Make sure to pick up tickets for all your Sting home games by clicking here.
