GAME REPORT: Sting Take Down Knights 4-1, Leufvenius Hat Trick Leads the Way
The Sarnia Sting hosted the London Knights on Wednesday night.
It was the first Battle of the 402 on the season. In front of a hearty mid-week crowd at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, Sarnia took it to the Knights, declaring a 4-1 victory.
In the first period, London struck first. Knights forward Cliff Pu scored a powerplay marker. Pu gathered the puck to the right of Sting goaltender Justin Fazio and slid it through the wickets. London held the lead for most of the first until the Sting tied it late.
Hugo Leufvenius took it upon himself to spark the Sting on the board. Leufvenius fought off his checkers high on the offensive wall, stepped into open ice, and fired it through a screen. It evaded the grasp of Knights goalie Joseph Raaymakers, and the two sides headed into intermission tied at one.
In the second, the Sting returned the favour of getting off to a hot start. Sean Josling scored his eighth of the season. Josling was set up in front by Sting defenceman Theo Calvas. Not usually known as an offensive playmaker, Calvas flashed his skillset anyway, feeding Josling with a perfectly placed pass.
Moving into the third, Leufvenius was bound and determined to seal the deal. Leufvenius scored the only two goals of the final frame, earning himself his first career Ontario Hockey League hat trick. The Swedish import scored his second goal by batting a rebound out of mid-air after Josling rushed in quick on the London goalie. To finish the night off, Leufvenius stood his ground in front of the Knights’ crease, received a pass from Sting captain Jordan Kyrou, and tapped in the hat trick goal. It capped a dominant evening from Leufvenius.

With Leufvenius leading the way and Justin Fazio standing tall in goal, the Sting took down the Knights. Fazio stopped 31 of 32 shots faced, picking up his league-leading fifteenth win of the season.
