GAME REPORT | Sting Drop Tight 2-1 Game to Spirit
The Sarnia Sting hosted the Saginaw Spirit on Wednesday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
It was certainly a battle of the goaltenders. Sting goaltender Justin Fazio and Spirit goaltender Evan Cormier combined to make seventy-three total saves on a night that saw shots flying on net at both ends of the ice.
Hayden Davis scored the lone goal of the first period. Davis’s point shot found a way through Fazio. Spirit forward Max Grondin appeared to have a gotten a piece of it, but Davis received final credit. The Spirit led 1-0 through one period of play.
In the second, Sean Josling scored his eleventh goal of the season. It came as the second game in a row in which Josling scored the team’s first goal. Josling capitalized on a long rebound that originated off the stick of Sting forward Anthony Salinitri.

Saginaw forward Brady Gilmour scored the lone goal of the third period, and it turned out to be the night’s final scoring effort. It was a nifty goal that saw Gilmour maneuver around in front with some quick stickwork. Credit where credit is due.
Fazio finished the game with 35 saves on 37 shots against. The Sting netminder made some major saves throughout the game, including some big-time robbery with his glove midway through the first.
