Annual Black & White Game Closes Day 3 of Camp

SARNIA, ON – Each year the unofficial start to the Sarnia Sting season is marked by the annual Black & White game, in support of United Way Sarnia Lambton. Not only is this an opportunity for Sting hockey operations staff to evaluate this years crop of talent, but also a chance for the community to get together to celebrate hockey and raise money for a great cause.

After being selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in this past NHL Entry Draft, Ryan McGregor didn’t waste any time. He quickly found the back of the net to score the games first two goals, putting Team White up 2-0. It was a back & forth affair as Team White and Team Black traded tallies. Scorers included: (Team Black) Jordan Kyrou, Adam Ruzicka & Brayden Guy. (Team White) Drake Rymsha, Brady Hinz & Jordan Ernst.

The game was dead locked at 4’s heading into the third. It took just over six minutes of tied hockey, before 2017 Calgary Flames 4th round selection, Adam Ruzicka gave Team Black the lead on a partial breakaway. Team White had their chances to tie the game but could not find the equalizer. 2017 OHL Priority Selection Joshua Booker was able to seal the deal on a penalty shot to give Team Black the 6-4 win.

Most importantly this edition of the Black & White game was able to raise $4,600 for the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. Over the past 12 seasons the Sting have helped raise over $30,000.

Sting hockey operations staff are expected to trim down the camp roster before their first exhibition contest at Budweiser Gardens in London on Friday, September 1st. The Sting will return home to host the Knights at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena the following night, puck drop is set for 7:05.

Tickets for both Sting home exhibition contests are just $10 for all ages. Secure your seat HERE

The Sarnia Sting and United Way would like to thank CHOK, Lambton Ford and all fans in attendance who help make this annual event such a success.
